Zack     NAME: Zack

    WEAPON: Buster Sword

    OCCUPATION: Solder: 1st Class

    HAIR: Black

    BLOODTYPE: O

                             Eyes: Blue; Mako glow

                             HEIGHT: 6'0''ish

                             HOMETOWN: Gongaga (map?)

AGE? His age is arguable. If you look closely at the file Tseng holds in his hand in Last Order, Zack's age is 18, same as Cloud's. But he was dating Aeris, who would have been his senior by a year. At any rate, 5 years passed from the incident at Neibelhiem, which Zack and Cloud spent as Professors Hojo's experiments to the time Zack was cruelly gunned down. So Zack was more than likely 23 or 24 at his time of death. Oh, and for his height, taller than Cloud by far, nearly as tall as Sephiroth.

PERSONALITY? Zack had a brillant personality. The kind of cocky that wasn't arrogant, but cocky because he set his mind to whatever he was doing. Rightly self-assured. Kind, carefree, outgoing, Zack put his life on the line for people he barely knew. He could have went off and let someone else handle Sephiroth. He could have left Cloud in his Mako poisoned state. But he chose to try to make things right. Nothing at all like the twisted corporation he was working for. Zack is also said to be a real lady killer. I could see him as a flirt, but I think he would be respectful and sweet to the ladies.

Zack SUCCESSFUL EXPERIMENT? While trying to avenge the townspeople and bring Sephiroth down, Zack is injured, obviously to the point of incapacitaion. He and Cloud are wheeled off as Shinra works to rebuild Neibelhiem and cover its tracks. For four long years, Hojo keeps them in tanks experiementing on them. What experiment? Well since his son, Sephiroth, fell off his rocker and jumped 9was knocked off by Cloud?) into the Mako (Lifestream?) at the bottom of the Mako plant, Hojo was attempting to create a Sephiroth clone. Zack was the 'success', able to escape, and fight off countless Shinra soldiers and the Turks and maitain his sense of self, while Cloud the 'failed' experiment remains in a comatose state and looses his sense of self.

Requiesce in Pace ONLY THE GOOD DIE YOUNG: It's ironic to me that in Last Order, Cloud runs right past the injured Zack, without so much as a side glance, straight to Tifa. Zack, on the other hand constantly stays by Cloud's side. Many attribute this to their long stay, side by side, in tanks, going through whatever suffering Hojo put them through--together. The way Zack talks to Cloud throughout Last Order is touching (see LO quotes section). They weren't friends since childhood. They weren't family. They weren't even in the same branch in Shinra. What Zack does for Cloud isn't out of charity, Zack wants to get away from Shinra and make a life for himself, and since his friend is in no shape to do so of his own accord, Zack happily took the role as a shoulder to lean on and do for his friend what his friend could not do for himself. After all the fighting and pain he went through, he was gunned down on the cliff overlooking the destination he strove so hard to reach- Midgar. Then to add insult to injury, when Cloud finally comes around, he basically sops up Zack's title as a Soldier 1st Class, his sword, his cockiness, his outgoingness, but none of his warm heartedness-- and forgets that there even was a Zack. Zack's death went uncounted for-- Cloud didn't even recall his existance for the longest, and Aeris and his parents knew nothing of his death.
