Episode 7: Night of Flight

Because of food shortage, even the village raids didn't wield enough future Heliwood soldiers. The Drill Instructor is lecturing the new soldiers, some look to barely be 5 or 6 years old. As one yawns, he punches the child to the ground. As Nabuca cleans his weapon, Boo inquires about Shuu and if he will be executed.

Shuu has been casts down into a pit. From above Tabur mocks him dropping his food to the ground so he can't eat it. He tells Shuu he will be executed along with Sara. Tabur throws the food bowl down hitting Shuu in the head. Wastes comes from a pipe above, covering Shuu with waste. He lies there, dejected.

Abelia takes LaLa-Ru to Hamdo.

Shuu dreams of LaLa-Ru and his first encounter with her as she asks for help. Water drips on his face awakening him. He collects it in his hand and with each drop he hears LaLa-Ru's voice asking for help. He eats the food dropped on the ground. Someone throws down his stick and he climbs up the walls, finding LaLa-Ru's pendant.

Hamdo offers LaLa-Ru a rose, as the thorns cut into his hands, asking for her pendant. At her silence he jams the sharp thorns toward her face and his blood drips on her lap.

Shuu is running though the walkways searching for LaLa-Ru and comes across Tabur. He knocks him in the back of the head with the stick. Tabur yells to alert the other soldiers.

Nabuca looks over and sees that Boo was the one who gave the stick back to Shuu. Nabuca lectures Boo but Boo argues back that they are the crazy ones and what they are doing is wrong and that Nabuca knows it is wrong. Nabuca tells Boo to Shuut up and flings him against the wall. Tears roll down Boo's face

Shuu shimmies up the drain spout outside of the Heliwood, but the soldiers knock it down and he falls. Stretching his arms and legs, Shuu goes up a pipe.

Inside Hamdo is still ranting at LaLa-Ru and piercing his palm with the roses thorns. LaLa-Ru looks up and sees Shuu. He is wearing her pendant and she whispers his name. Shuu begins to beat the glass above the room to come in. LaLa-Ru asks why did Shuu come and he tells her, "But you told me to help you". He then returns her pendant.

Abelia comes in and from Hamdo's orders shoots Shuu in the arm. Hamdo grabs Shuu and LaLa-Ru stands staring hard at Hamdo as he backs away. She activates her pendant and water shoots forth suddenly bursting forth from Heliwood. Hamdo rolls through the water screaming 'water it's water' Abelia announces over the intercom to catch Shuu and LaLa-Ru.

Shuu and LaLa-ru escape on a hovercraft. As they are wondering through Heliwood looking for an escape, the soldiers search for them. Nabuca comes across him first and both boys stop. Shuu asks if Nabuca realizes all the terrible things he is doing. Nabuca tells him there is nothing else to do, but Shuu extends his hand and tells him they can escape together, Boo as well, back to his village. Nabuca stares at Shuu for a long time and hears the soldiers voices, he tells the soldiers no one is there and they go. He tells Shuu he can't go with him, and that for saving him, he is repaying Shuu by letting him go this time. Nabuca walks away.

Shuu and LaLa-Ru escape Heliwood.
