Episode 3: A Feast in the Dark

The next morning, Shuu is wheezing in pain. His cellmate, Sara comes and dabs his head with a napkin. When Shuu sees her, he thinks she is LaLa-Ru and crawls towards her. Terrified, Sara hits him over the head with a metal dish, knocking him out.

Outside Nabuca and Tabur are sparring as the drill sergeant and other soldiers look on. Nabuca wins, as Tabur complains that it wasn't far, the sergeant slaps Tabur to the ground, telling the other soldiers they must devote their lives to Hamdo.

Shuu awakens and starts toward Sara again, but sees she isn't LaLa-Ru. He sits bad and studies her, asking her where LaLa-Ru is. His stomach growls and he mumbles about croquet and when Sara hears this she grabs Shuu asking where he is from and if he knows of America. When he says yes, Sara breaks down in tears and sobs.

Abelia escorts LaLa-Ru to Hamdo. In a garden like room, Hamdo tries sweet talking LaLa-Ru into bringing the water to him, but she remains impassive. He smashes a red fruit into her face, pulls her hair and raves.

Back in the cell, Sara tells Shuu how she was returning home and suddenly the snake like machines abducted her, confusing her for LaLa-Ru. Sara cries to go home and Shuu promises her they will get back home somehow and everything will be ok, as long as they are still alive. She accepts his promise and introduces herself to Shuu. Suddenly the cell doors open and a soldier drags Shuu out while he screams to Sara, It'll be okay, it will be ok.

Abelia has Shuu tied up and beaten while she questions him about the pendent. He tells her she doesn't know and Abelia strikes him over and over with her gun butt. She has Shuu hung outside in the hot sun. Crows fly over and peck at him, thinking Shuu is dead.

The soldiers are going through intensive training below. Boo looks up and sees Shuu, and points him out to Nabuca. Boo feels sorry for him, but Nabuca tells him he is an enemy. He asks Nabuca why, when Shuu saved his life, and Nabuca tells him never to repeat it.

Nabuca and Boo go to fetch Sara. Nabuca forces her up with a gun and into a room where a soldier sticks out his hand and yanks her in. Sara is raped.

Shuu awakens and below him there is a fight raging and fires burning. He is finally pulled in and thrown back into the cell where he sees Sara, zoned out and bruised, her clothes torn. Tears stream down her face. Unable to move and badly beaten, Shuuu continually calls out her name, with no response.

[the scene fades out as the ending "Komoriuta" is played]
