Episode 1: A Girl Admiring the Sunset

Shuu wakes up, ever energetic and hurries downstairs with his backpack and sits at the table to eat his breakfast of natto and rice. After eating, he runs off to the dojo. During the kendo match, Shuu is attacking wildly, tactlessly, and his opponent, Oda, quickly brings him down with one blow. Later, as they are drinking water and cooling off, Oda tells Shuu that he must fight with focus, predicting his opponents next move, but Shuu dismisses him, saying it's only a game and having fun is most important.

On his way home, Shuu looks up to the smokestacks and sees a girl. He climbs to the top of one of the smokestacks and calls to her, but she doesn't respond. She points to the sunset and Shuu tells her the word for it is ゆうひ then asks her name. She wordlessly mouths LaLa-Ru. Shuu points out the varies places in the town below, all the kind people he knows of. Suddenly there is this static-like noise and Abelia appears, commanding two snake like robots. Lalaru is taken by one of the robots and stares to Shuu, mouthing the words た·す·け·て . Shuu launches into attack, is knocked into an abandoned building below where he grabs a stick. He runs up a snake to attack again just as Abelia is preparing to transport everyone back to the future.

In a strange new place, Shuu instantly grabs LaLa-Ru by the hand and runs while Abelia announces over an intercom that LaLa-ru is escaping. At the end of one walkway, Nabuca, Boo, and another soldier run into Shuu & LaLa-Ru and raise their guns, as Shuu turns and runs. One of the soldiers pulls a lever, separating the bridge in two. Shuu calls to LaLa-Ru to jump to him, but she hesitates and almost falls and as Shuu tries to jump towards her, he falls short, yanking off LaLa-Ru's necklace as falls. The soldiers take LaLa-Ru away as she glances back to where Shuu was. The stick Shuu holds gets caught into some hanging cloth as he dangles high in the air, the camera pans away for a full view of Heliwood. どこ なん だ ...ここ は...?
